Hey guys/gals,

Before I dig into this problem I was wondering if someone out there could steer me in the right direction. Here's what's happening, going into foward gear it's perfect and smooth but over the season going into reverse took longer and longer, what I mean is that the throttle would hit before it went into gear and slam in. I tried after putting the boat back in after Irene and it went in twice while docking then no more. I don't want to rev and slam so I tried the quick rev to see if it would catch but no more. I'm going to the boat tomorrow evening after work to try and sort this out, just looking for advice before I get started. Also I don't have a schematic for the linkage adjustments.

Thanks,

Mike

Is the boat out of the water?
Open the 270 back cover and see if isn't a linkage problem.
The shifter cable bends the most under the u-joint bellows, mine was all split apart in that area.

Thanks for the reply, I took the cover off the day after this post and adjusted the linkage. I haven't seen any damage to the cable but I will inspect it better when I take the boat out in the fall. It works now.
