One of the engine plugs on one of the AQ130C engines of my boat needs to be replaced. The original was stainless steel in the 1.77" size. First of all, any recommendations on the best place to find a single plug? Related to that, anyone buy a five pack of them and have an extra they want to sell? Finally, I have not installed that type of plug; any hints or recommendations to insure it is well and properly seated? Thanks, Hans

You could try Napa, them plugs are brass usually. Then just lightly clean up the bore in the block, get a socket that fits inside the plug, closest to the flange as you can get. Put an extension on the socket, add a tad of sealer to the edges of the flange, tap it in. I use quicksilver perfect seal, but permeatex or the like will work.here is a you tube link.

Thanks for the link. I have done that type of conventional plug before, but these are the flat discs with no lip at the edge. Is there anything different to installing this type as opposed to the conventional lipped style? Thanks, Hans

The flat ones are not really flat. They are concave, you put it in,curved side out,get a large punch, tap ti right in the center,it'll expand to seat tight.

Final write up; I obtained the plug through NAPA. Stainless steel and about $16 but they had it in stock. I cleaned the seat for the expansion plug (on the block) as best I could and lightly tapped it into place. Then I hit it a little harder with a socket about the size of the outside of the plug and then used a 1/2" socket extension as an oversize punch to depress the center. I think I used a 2# hammer to hit the extension. Looks good so far. I will only update if it fails. Hans
