Re: Aq131A Carb Help

Several things that are specific to this carb.
1) There is no adjustment to the float. If you've bent the tang, you've ruined the float.
2) If you used an OEM kit, be aware that there is only a main jet holder in the kit - not a replacement jet. Might want to pull it and take a look to see if there is actually a jet in there. Your problems seem similar to having a main jet missing (too large an opening).
3) The center jet is called the emulsifier and should also be perfectly clean. This is easy to miss during a rebuild. It just unscrews from the center tube.
4) From your last post - Yes, you should have some fuel misting from the venturi as you rev up the engine.
5) Not all rebuilds are successful. Although relatively simple, these carbs are intolerant of dirt, varnish, or other debris in the passages. I've followed someone elses tips and also cleaned the carb in hot soapy water after soaking in carb cleaner and blowing out the passages with compressed air.

Hope this helps without adding to the confusion.

1. havnt bent anything,

2. i checked all the jets from the iboats part catalog, im all set on all the jets and such,

3. i cleaned teh hell out of the center i beleive 185 jet,

5. i decided to take it all apart and reclean it, let it sit in aircraft paint and epoxy remover, its as clean as it will ever be, and ran pipe cleaners thru every hole and its as clean as new, seems like its running the same as before the acid wash.... runs decent, and clean, just wondering what the heck is that spray from the carb at high rpm...

Key is to use air and blow all the ports open.

Key is to use air and blow all the ports open.

did that made sure everything was open and clean even the air/fuel screw on the bottom plate.. im almost positive the issue is the resistor on the coil...

how bad is it to run a internal resisted coil with a external resistor?? i know it shouldnt be like that, but is it enough to really make it run bad?
