I'm borrowing my neighbors dwell meters 2 Now I have 3 dwell meters.

ALL 3 have a different reading.

I'm not giving up hope yet.

BTW out of the factory Glasply Did put 120hp mercuisers & Volvo Penta AQ140 125hp in these boats

The towel is acting as a choke. Those carbs have no choke. Now you have discovered a new cold starting technique!

Your compression numbers sound good.

I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a rebuild kit and go through the carb.

So you like my choke........ I love the K.I.S.S method.

Well I went to HF got a automotive meter dwell tack temp ETC ETC

Dwell was out it was 47ish

Set to 62ish started Ok It was warm for earlier gave it some gas got her up to 3600ish POOF

I'll check the BT

crankshaft TDC pull 1CYD both valve should be up ( Right)

That was weird
I thought I ran out of gas.

hooked up the boat tank wouldn't start primed the carb no start.
Thats when I fingered the TB jumped

ruffly 45 minutes later

Just when out to hook up battery charger looked at the key said why not cant hurt,,,,,, bamm fired right up.

Dwell is off a we bit forgot the number. Got to get 62dg in my head and remove the 31

Tomorrow or whenever see what happens.

Don't forget to reset your timing whenever you adjust the dwell.

...I don't think I have ever seen a dwell meter that reads in percent.

I have an older (bought in the late 70's) SunTune inductive dwell/tach, looks like a small multimeter, I think i got it at Sears. The needle reads percent, and there is a conversion table on the back. That is the only style I had seen back in the days when this thing was new, but I was already "old" by then

Sidenote that AQ145A is looking better,, That sea water filter don't interfere with the DIST like this motor

I run my timing at about 9 degrees, performs better with a bit more advance.
