Random question but to save be wrecking my exhaust manifold does anyway have a picture to show where raw water drainage channels are?

Mine is fused in to one mega lump of orange metal and before I try to drill through years of cast metal I am trying to identify where I should be opening!

I am surprised that the outlets are so small, perhaps a little restrictive but I didnt design it :)

Thank you in advance Mark

Might post a picture of this "fused in to one mega lump of orange metal" before we try to guess what it is.

You can see I described it like it is!

Re: aq151 manifold help :)

For what it is worth here is the after pic photo.jpg it now has some holes for the raw water to exit, but would still appreciate it if anyone has a decent picture of this when it is clean and tidy, I have already taken a chunk of the outer off (should be below the jubilee clip for the rubber so not overly worried) and dont want to remove more than is normal for the drainage. Difficult to tell here as it had all fused to one magic lump!

If that was my manifold, it would be in the scrap pile and I would be looking for a new one. In your other thread you mentioned water in the cylinder. Guess where it was coming from, that failed rusty manifold. It cost me less than $300 to replace mine.

Re: aq151 manifold help :)

Im in partial agreement with that but have managed to clean the water channels with a screwdriver and wire toothbrush.

Yes the link with water in the motor was made :) Head is being machine now after welding. The guy I bought it off did suggest that he couldnt vouch for the rest of the motor but the exhaust was good so all being well the rest will be ok and the exhaust shot :)

Reluctant to buy new as have not actually started the motor yet, I plan on putting this one on for an initial test run and then replacing if all is well with the rest of the motor. ?229 english pounds.

Just want to make sure I have dug out of all the holes first! I have run a hose through it and flow rate is good so should work for now.

I hate it when the budget gets in the way. Once you get it running and you are hapoy with it, I would definitely change that manifold, especially with all that rust inside which makes me think it is leaking. Good luck.

Me too, but hate it more when the thought of a bad motor rears it's head! Head works underway so will be keen to avoid repeating the problem but did run the hose as hard as I could and had nothing coming from the inside (although had not considered further leaks which I guess is the way the raw water would orginally get back in to the motor so almost a given) .... they are cheaper in the states than the uk, but postage is a little steep (heavy old things).
