As I posted I similar treads I have a princess 266 with 2 aq171a. I have been suggest by various person to stay away from rebuilding the engine.

At first I was considering to change to 2 aqad31 but I was told they might be to heavy and leave no space to work on the engine also I would need to change my low part of the sterndrive as I have a 290 sp.

Now I found 2 aq151 which can be rebuilt my question is ... Do you thing the boat will be under power with aq151s?

Re: Aq151

Assuming a princess 266 is 26 feet long, I would think the AQ171 (167hp DOHC) engines would be about minimum power. The AQ151 (SOHC 146hp) is a 42hp drop.

The 151 and the 171 use the same block, just a different head with 2 cams.

Why did people say not to rebuild the 171's? Do they know what they are talking about or just a bunch of dock talk?

Main reason of not rebuilding the aq171a are the manifolds which cost nearly 3000euro from Australia for a pair and lack of parts.

What is your suggestion don s?
