1988 4 cly. dohc volvo

Engine seems to be running on 2 cylinders at idle, but runs fine above 1800 rpm. I have re-built carbs, still the same , re-placed cap and rotor, plug wires are good. Checked for vacuum leaks,Seems to me it is timing. Belt was re -placed at 200 hrs. It has an electronic system (keynix) I don't know how to adjust the timing, I read both the Clymer, and Seloc manuals, neither has any info or how to.
The book says it should be 8 deg tdc. could it be that the belt was put on wrong?
Any ideas??
thanks Ed

The timing is very tricky! It took a few times to get it right. Hard to line marks up.
Good luck!

In the RENIX electronic ignition, the timing is NOT adjustable. It should be 10° @ 850 rpm and between 23° and 25° at 4400 rpm. If it's not, you replace the electronic control unit.

The electronic control unit controls the timing?
I thought it was just a coil! The little devil costs $850.00 !!!
