Again, 1986 bayliner capri 1950 with AQ225E (small block chevy)..TRYING to change the spark plugs..I can swap out the middle 2 plugs on each side but can NOT do the very front or rear on each side because theres no way to get a spark plug socket on those plugs due to the exhaust mainfold.; I have tried boxed end and open end wrenches and they dont work either. Anyone know how to do this WITHOUT removing the exhaust manifolds? Surely there is some kind of tool...?

Take a plug sicked, grind the drive end to a taper. Then use the socet only to crack them loose. Use a piece of 1/4" hose over the terminal to spin it out the rest of the way. Helps to throw a pillow over the motor and lay right on top

Yeah as Scott said. Some of them are really close to the manifolds. I have always got them out, but I usually have to try at least 3 sockets to find the right one. I should mark it so it's handy. I get them cracked loose and finger out the rest of the way, and use the hose to get them back in far enough to snug them back up....

I used a Snap On thin walled socket.
A regular 13/16 not the plug socket.
A friend cut a 13/16 closed end wrench down to fit.

I got it..I ground both ends down a little on a spark plug socket AND removed the rubber piece from the socket. Worked just fine and got them all changed out. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
