aq271a belt help

i am trying to find to size of the belts for this motor without going through volvo and i cant find the sizes for these anywhere. if anyone can point me in the right direction please help.

i have part #978750 altenator. from volvopenta.com but im not even sure if thats correct.

i will need to find all three sizes so i can go to napa and get them.

there was only the power steering pump belt on it and it is stretched a bit. i didnt know if anyone would know off hand or even know where i can find the sizes. if there the same as a chevy motor than i can go that route but i bought 2 belts already and they are to short. i used the string trick and i measured them wrong by a good bit:redface: my mistake. i seen on penta that there are compatible belts with other motors but i want to get the right ones the second time. thanks for looking.

All part stores have what you need. You may need to make a couple of trips the first time you change them. Save the numbers. Some times you get the wrong size because the old one is not as wide as it once was. put your old belt on and set adjustment in the middle but allow for belt wear.

i put on a 47x1/2 and a 35x1/2. the 35 is nice and tight but the belt rolled over when i put it on, im gonna let it warm up and stretch a little bit so its more pliable and then roll it back. the 47 is a hair long but it is going to be a pain to put a 46 on because of the altenator. i had trouble putting the bolt bak in with the 47.

i got everything back together and put the water to it and it still is not pumping water out the exhaust. i think it dont have a good seal on it so im going to take it to the river and try it.

if i keep the exhaust out of the water and run it i think it will perform better.

thanks alot to everyone helping me on iboats and getting me this far. im going to try it out as long as the baby dont come yet, than i will let everyone know how it went.

those belts aren't meant to stretch. I would get the belt on right before running it.
