AQ280 vs OMC repower

Anybody knows if is possible to repower old (1985)OMC to AQ280 drive ?
Just wonder if AQ280 transom hole is smaller than OMC.

Old OMC stringer outdrive is a bigger hole than the 280...yes the 280 is smaller.

The OMC has a much larger hole than Volvo, and the transom is also a lot thinner in the OMC.
