Aqua meter tachometer wiring?

I recently purchased an aqua meter tachometer for my mercury 115 hp outboard. The Tach has only two wires on the back grey and black. Most Tachs have three ,12v ,GRD and send as I have seen. Does anyone know how this tach would be hooked to a mercury outboard as I have no idea. I have a wiring diagram for the motor and have located the conector on the remote for the tach. Could I use this somehow? Dan

Re: Aqua meter tachometer wiring?

I am just posting this as I've just went through the wringer on mine and still haven't got the final solution. My old tach was a two wire and it went to my Evinrude. The Gray wire on a Johnson that goes to the sensor went to the sensor on this old two wire one. The other wire, (black) was simply ground. The Teleflex brand I has 3 wires. A + power input, the black ground and the gray goes to the sensor. I'm assuming yours just doesn't need the + wire. Mine still doesn't work but I think it has to do with a rectifier being out and isn't the tach. (The original was sunk but may have not been out, the next one didn't work but had a slight ding so I assumed it might be bad and finally a brand new Teleflex that still didn't work..) Email me if your's ends up not working for your application... I might have a deal for you... :)
