I have narrowed my search down to an Aqua Patio 240CB with a 150 Yamaha 2 tune and a 230E Berkshire with a 150 Merc Tri Toon. I can't find any review on either model and this is make my decision difficult. Any help or comments are welcome.

Re: Aqua Patio VS. Berkshire STS

I think both are great boats. We have the Berkshire 230cl with a lot of options and love the boat, so far it's flawless. I would not get the Mercury 150 4stroke.
Our 1st one blew up when dealer took it for a test run and I'm not satisfied with the performance of the 2nd one. The dealer tried 4 different props and different motor heights all with the same exact results, 5,200 rpm's at 33 mph.
The motor is rated for 5,800 rpm's.
I would buy another Berkshire, it rides smooth and takes large waves without any water coming over the front gate.

Go with the Berkshire tri toon with the Merc. 150 FourStroke. The above motor failure mentioned was one of the first produced. If the motor is not performing up to par, I blame it on an Atlanta/Lake Lanier dealer that hasn't done his job properly setting up the motor.

After reading about the 150 Merc extensively on PontoonForums.com and BBCboards.net (bass fisherman forum), the engine appears to now be doing well. I have not seen any complaints recently, and it's a great motor for repowering.

That said, I'm running a Bennington 24SSLX Express Tube with a F150 Yamaha--the motor is simply the standard of the industry. And we're getting 40-41 mph @ 6000 rpm's. But my Yamaha is about $2K more than the Mercury motor if bought outright (not with a boat.)

Bamaman, It really wasn't the dealers fault on the set-up as they flew in the Mercury head honcho to work with them. They finally decided to install an Enertia 15 1/8 x 14 ss prop and said they couldn't do anything more.

I also had a problem with the 2nd motor which I never mentioned on my original reply.
I would still recommend the Yamaha to him.

Berkshire / SouthBay / Xcursion are the same company / manufacturer. Aqua Patio has been around a long time. I'm sure either barge would suit your needs. If you'll be boating on larger bodies of water, you'll appreciate the ride of a triple tube barge when things get rough. Good luck !!!

Thanks for all the comments. We decided on the Aqua Patio. This boat had so many additional options which were hard to pass up for the price. being that we are on a smaller lake, I thought the TT wouldn't add too much benefit for the added cost. Hope to post some pictures soon.
