Hey all, I am on my way to Port Aransas this weekend and am wondering if anyone has fished there? We plan on trying to fish some flats, maybe do some pier fishing. Know of any good places to go in that area?

Thanks, Eterry

Re: Aransas Pass TX, fishing

No one on here lives near Port Aransas Texas??? I was at work when I sent first post so had to be quick. I have been there twice, fished a couple jetties and the Aransas County Pier, but a friend told me about wade fishing on the flats and was wondering if anyone on here wade fished. We went out on a converted car ferry but i spent most of the time with my head hung over the railing; been drinking all day and water was a lil rough!! Gonna take some Dramamine and stay sober, that should help!!
Wish me luck...

Re: Aransas Pass TX, fishing

So, a buddy of mine went thru Texas a few years ago, doing a lot of wading for trout and reds. He used a DOA shrimp, like we use around here and did great. Lot's of catch and release. They make a 1/4 oz. "measels" speckled red colored jig. Looks just like a shrimp and they can be deadly. Also used 52m11 mirrorlure (red and white) as well as a variety of cotee jigs, 1/4 oz. red head and various tails. All of these baits can be bought at the local Wal-Mart. At least here in Florida. Also for reds, there is a gold spoon 1/4 - 3/8 oz that they seem to really like. You can always pony up to the local baithouses and check out what the locals use. Good luck. :)
