Are Chrysler motors junk and to be avoided?

I think instead of a switch to convert to eliminate the magna power I'll just do a jumper wire setup. As far as I can figure the blue ignition wire coming from the electrical block goes to the positive on the coil and the points connection on the distributor goes to the minus on the coil and you just add a automotive condenser to keep the points from burning. I think I can figure out a way to "unplug" the magna power and go automotive setup just in case the magna power fails on me out on the water.

Winnercougar74 that is a coil for a MSD ignition system?
Not a coil for a regular auto system with points.
Those regular coils has a higher secondary resistance then CDI ignition system.
General about 10-12kOhm, CDI systems about 600-1000 Ohm.
I think that coil you use will work perfect with the Magna Power CD syYo

Nordin, you are correct. It is a epoxy coil instead of oil filled. I think marine coils are mostly epoxy so they can handle the beating that they take out there on the water so that's why I picked one of them. Plus it is rated properly for the CDI box I bought. It is called a "Blaster Ignition Blaster SS Coil High Voltage -40,000V Male E-Core Square Epoxy". So far so good and it was only $23.75 on ebay.
