I hunt for anything, I dont care what it is. If there is a season for it, I will kill it and eat it, except crow. Yes we do have a crow season here.

My favorite gun is my Winchester 94 pre-65, but I will sometimes use a 20ga slug. The longest shot you will get here is about 30 yards.

When I bow hunt I use a PSE OneStar 75lb draw with an Easton 2117 with a standard broadhead 100gr. I also use a Cobra mechanical release, and a Doinker stabilizer.

I want to try muzzle loader hunting this year, but not sure about it yet, as I have never fired one.

Re: Are there any Hunters in the room?

I like to fish but, live to hunt!! From September to January, nothing but deer, ducks, turkey, rabbit, and what ever else may look good on the table! Use mostly shotguns up here, rifles are only legal for varmits. Come bow season, it's a PSE Nitro with overdraw and carbon force arrows.

I have/use a muzzle loader, only because they offer an additional season for muzzle loader only. It is very accurate, but nasty to clean, and takes about 10 seconds for the smoke to clear after you shoot!

What part of Arkansas are you from? How's the boar hunting?
Marty

I live in NW Arkansas, we dont have any boars up here. I think the bears keep them away. I thought about going to the carbon arrows, but at 6.00 each, for the cheap ones, aluminum just looks to good.

Where do you hunt?

Elk second rifle season in colorado, Encore single shot rifle in 30-06.

Whitetail here, same rifle for gun season also have the smokepole for it in 54cal 100 grain pyrodex pellets. Drives tacks to 80+ yds.
Last year was my first Bow hunt and tried a pawnshop compound and midway switched to a Grizzly recurve with 125 gr traditional broadhead on Carbon arrows. Got the opertunity to shoot some of the bow shop owners carbons and it took me about 5 minutes to fork over 70 bucks for a half dozen they shoot that much better. Love them.

Other than that it's plinking and varmits.
Forgot to mention I have a bear tag this year as a favor to a nearby landowner, they have horses and the bears are spooking them.

Re: Are there any Hunters in the room?

6.00 each is a fair price, up here they charged me 10.00ea. This is the first year using them, I really haven't shot them enought to now if it was worth it? They are quite a bit faster than the aluminium.

I'm in SW Michigan. Mostly farm land where we hunt around here, the deer are very plentiful, and tasty, they eat corn, soy beans ect.. Very close to a beef taste, most people don't know the difference unless you tell them. On occasion I will go with the guy's 2-3 hours north, for a long weekend. Not much farm land up there, the deer survive pretty much on berries and tree bark. The meat is quite a bit tougher and taste more like liver.

We are now starting to have a lot of coyote's around, looking forward to hunting them this winter. :D

YEP.. I look forward to hunting season in the fall
after I put the boat away. I hunt white tail and
mule deer , moose , elk , Big horn sheep, and Prong
horn "Antelope", all within a few hours drive of
my home. All of these game, are by draw except for
the white tails, wich only require a general non
draw tag.

Re: Are there any Hunters in the room?

Oh man do I love to hunt. Deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, dove, duck ,goose, pretty much anything that can be hunted in our state. In Indiana, we are restricted to slug guns, (and muzzleloaders) during our deer season. I absolutely could not live without my 12ga. Mossberg 835 ulti-mag. Man that gun is awesome. Use them 3-1/2" #4s for them turkey, and those Remington copper plated sabots for deer.
As far as bowhuntin goes, I use an old PSE Phaser 2 bow. I'm a bit of a traditionalist, and prefer to still shoot with a tab. Seems as though there are fewer of us each year. I shoot a 2315 arrow tipped with a 90 grain 4-blade muzzy. I have had very good results from this set-up.
Try the muzzloader, you will love it, just gotta make the first shot count. ;) I have a Thompson Center Renegade 54-caliber, and I love it.

I will try not to show up unannounced this fall there Nathan.........I will blow the horn when I get to your driveway. :D

Yep, I love it too. I've hunted just about since I was old enough to hold a firearm (BB gun at first). I prefer small game, ducks, geese, grouse, doves, quail, pheasants, etc.

I have an assortment of fireams (couple dozen) or so ranging from .22's to 10 guage, with numerous rifles in between.

Bow hunting. Forget it. I couldn't hit the inside of a barn if I was standing inside it.

I'd like to learn, just haven't had the time.

Re: Are there any Hunters in the room?

My wife just bought me a new saddle gun for my birthday. It's one I've been looking at for a while. It's a Marlin 336CS (checkered stock) lever action carbine in 35 Remington cartridge. Comes in only to sizes 150 and 200 grain.
Huyaaaa. ;)

Yep..Hunter here!

Well at least until 'rip-me-off-tax-the-hell-outta-me-Oregon-use-no-vaseline'- increase the tags so high that I can't afford to go.
Since we said NO to a big 'ol tax levey a while back, they are trying to tax and increase every **** thing they can now.

My weapon of choice is my Remington model 700 - 7MM magnum. One shot, one kill!

I Mule deer and Blacktail hunt mainly. I occasionally go for Elk, but that season brings out some of the biggest idiots known to man around here. It's best to stay inside and stay alive!

H.

Re: Are there any Hunters in the room?

I live for September through December and for a couple weeks in May for spring gobblers. Whitetails, bears, turkeys and this year I was fortunate enough to pull a moose tag (first time in 12 years of trying!). I got a chocolate lab pup a couple years ago, figured I'd try duck hunting...dog's too dumb. Hates the water, she's gun-shy--great duck dog, I shoot, she ducks.

I shoot a PSE Baby G at 70lbs, with 2013's tipped with 100g thunderheads--I am a speedfreak. I own lots of firearms, but the ones that see the most use are the remington 7400 in 30.06, remington 870 12ga, and the T/C new englander .50 cal muzzle loader.

I would really love to stick a moose with the bow, but I will also be carrying the 7400 in case I have to reach out and touch him. Only 6 weeks away from opening day...I am getting excited!!

You bet, been hunting since I was about 8. I go out White Tail, Pheasant, Grouse, Rabbit, & Turkey. I hunt in Pennsylvania though, New Jersey s**ks at land conservation and Open Space. If you go onto Public Land around here you're liable to get shot.

Check this out 2 years ago I won a Ruger M77 mark II chambered for 7mm mag bagged an 8 pointer in bradford county last year with it and a big doe.

Bought a German Short Hair Pointer May of '02 and he put up 3 birds for me in november at lake Nockamixin darn growth was so High that never got a shot off. He was only 8 mths old then so I'm looking forward to this year been training him and he has matured quite a bit.
