Re: Are there any Hunters in the room?

Hunt, man, you gotta love that! My wonderful wife recently bought me a new limited edition Ruger .223 cal for my collection! Too pretty to use, but will take it out in nice clear days.

Deer, turkey, grouse, squirrel, groundhogs, ... Just gotta hunt!

Anyone want to hunt in Central PA and are in the area, you are welcome - use boat to cruise the lake shoreline, drive the points for deer, put in a hard days work, but get good results. New regs in PA last year, need at least 3 points on one side of a buck to be legal, should have some nice ones in another year or 2.

Aspeck, Where in central PA. I hunt with my Pop in Bucks, Carbon, & Lehigh Counties for small game. We go to Potter county for Turkey and Bradford County for deer. Usually use public land or state parks. Like the Beltsville area best for small game but also like the game lands out by Trexler.

Jgregory - mostly Lake Raystown/Huntingdon County. Good for grouse, deer, picking up a few bear now, tons of squirrel, turkey population seems to be growing.

Went for a walk with "She who Must be Obeyed" and my littlest girl, 22 months old, the other day. Nice 6 point in velvet caught the daughters eye, she yelled "DEER" and spooked the thing. It was neet to see her hunter eyes start to get the idea. She is good at picking out sounds and finding squirrel and chipmunks. I am goingto have a little hunting companion soon!

Aspeck, I know what you mean. I have a four year old (just turned 4 today)who loves to go out with dad. I took her out Spring Gobbler this year didn't expect to see anything but wanted to give her the experience and she loved it.

Was out a Raystown a long time ago had a blast. we went to the spillway at the dam and were catching crayfish like crazy about as big as the palm of my hand.

My cousin went to Juniata College out there and said that the hunting was great.

Good luck with your little girl.

Re: Are there any Hunters in the room?

Thanks. Just got back from another evening walk - saw 9 deer. The little one was going nuts, but whispering every time we saw a deer. Actually, the first one she saw without me again - was pointing to it from my shoulders and I couldn't see it! Thought it was a make believe one till it ran! Better eyes than her old man! Saw another nice buck in velvet and 2 fawns with spots. The little one loved them and we were able to sneak to within 25 years of them.

She is asleep now, dreaming of Daddy and deer, I am sure!

Hey, I am a Wheaton College and Juniata College Grad. Small world! And Happy Birthday to the little one!

If I am not fishing I’m hunting, and some times I fish and hunt in the same day. Hunt in the morning and then break out the rods and catch a few spotted bass and crappie, and then hunt that afternoon. Its tough, but someone has to do it… :D

I live on an old Ox bow lake off the lower White River just east of the Duck Capital of the World “Stuttgart AR”. I haven’t duck hunted in awhile though; I do hunt deer, squirrel, and rabbit. I haven’t started on the turkey and bear yet.

I would bow hunt more but the Spotted and Large Mouth bass are usually gorging themselves for the upcoming winter.

I deer hunt with a Browning A-Bolt “AT&T reach out and touch someone” 300 win. Mag, the shots around here can range from a few feet in heavy bottom land hardwoods to 300-400 yards in open fields.
