I purchased a used Tracker boat with Hull damage and 1999 Force (low hours) 90 h.p on it 3 yrs ago.. I was very reluctant due to, "THE FORCE REPUTATION". I've ran Mercury OB's my entire life and was satisfied. Due to price, I took the gamble. After repairing Hull and stringers, I have run the boat for the last 3 seasons without any major problems. First year I would not go out on the Great Lakes due to trust issues on OB. Last two seasons I have used on Great Lakes with complete confidence. I am mechanically inclined and have spoiled the OB. I've spent more time (more problems)working on my Brothers 2004 125 Merc, then I have on my Force. I would echo above comments ref. proper care of OB. I believe this OB was taken care of previously and this has resulted in a great OB......Plus every question I have ever had has been answered through this website. The FORCE GURU's are amazing here. In conclusion, I would say that any OB that is abused and neglected will be a nightmare, regardless of brand name...
