Hello, I done the Joe Reeves repair on the armature plate and the slack seems to be gone. When I started the motor, It seemed as though It was idleing higher than before. It has good throttle response and idles good, but maybe alittle high. Does this sound normal? Can I adjust the idle on this motor? What would be considered to tight? (73 25 Evinrude)

Re: Armature Plate Repair

You should idle around 700rpms in the water not on muffs. If you have remote controls on this engine you can adjust your idle with the wheel on the cable. There should be a stop on the engine that it will hit when you have it right. This stop can be adjusted also. Take your cover off and give it gas, without it running, and you will see what I'm talking about.
