Armature plate

Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to install points and condensers in a '65 MQ11. The Clymer's manual says to start things off by moving the armature plate to the full advanced position, but offers no instruction as to how this is done, and as good as that manual is, the photos in this particular section are not very clear. Are there going to be markings on the armature plate showing the "full advanced position"?

Well, in the first place, the position makes no difference. But to answer your question, put the shift in forward gear, then advance throttle to full wide open position. That is full advance position.

I've always set them at the full advance position as that's the place you don't want a high speed ignition miss.

Well, with that in mind, it still doesn't make any difference unless there is some unwanted slop in the armature plate. In that case, the problem should be repaired. And on that subject, it wouldn't be unusual for it to have a lot of wear, with the way those things shake rattle and roll on the '65 models.
