Re: asked girlfreind to check the oil

have a 2003 f-150 4x4 with the 4.6 .only mod is a cold air system.i went on a trip last year and before I went I did my usual oil ,filter, lube change with top grade synth products.10,000 kms plus on the trip ,used zero oil and it looked as good as new when I got back.i have no idea if it has anything to do with it but since I bought it in 06 ive used nothing but the best and I quess the truck is happy with that.ive spent my whole life fixing or at least trying to fix my own vehicels but it is getting harder and harder to do that with the advent of efi, comps etc.nowadays cars and trucks can go ,2, 300,000 miles with just simple regular mtc.not a big fan of all the social media junk they put in cars today.on the one hand thet tell use it dangerous to text and drive and on the other they allow all this junk to be put in vehicles.when I drive, cell phone is off and the closest I come to fancy stuff is a gps for out of town trips .

Does the Rainier ring a bell?

Yep...that counts but been quite a few years.

Basically a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was put out to pasture in 2007

Quite a few years? My newer daily driver is a 2005, so a 2007 would be a step into the future!

Mine too! I keep my vehicles a long time

My friend has one of the 2012 Buick SUVs. Not sure I would classify anything with FWD as a truck. Very similar vehicle to the Lexus RX which is based off a Camry chassis.

That was a great find!

Well, I thought it was...

I didn't read the whole article at first, but I just did. At the bottom it says it's actually an Oldsmobile truck, not a Buick truck as the article alludes one to believe,,, or so the article says. Buick truck, Oldsmobile truck, I don't know

Bah! That's barely broken in! I'm near 150K on both of my vehicles, and hoping for at least 200K.:)

Roger that. That's my plan too. I've had to put a few bucks into her (as evidenced in other threads), but on balance I believe this Expedition has been the best truck I've owned. I decided to try a truck without a bed for the first time ever. I was apprehensive at first but it's worked out really well.

Hoping for 200K.... I bought my truck with 200K. Its over 250 now, and running strong. That's what you get when you buy a Chevy.

Truck without a bed :loco: don't care what the government calls it, they have proven there intelligence. Go to a car lot and ask for a truck without a bed  its called a cab and chassis.

Is a van a truck... no, and they are actually allot closer considering some do share a chassis

Personally, I think this is a remarkable thread.
Among the topics broached have been WAGS, synthetic oil, frequency of oil changes, quality of various vehicles, and what parents are teaching today's youth.....and it has not yet gone south.:D

:facepalm:Okay, how bout what Edmunds calls it? The Ford Expedition is a full-size sport-utility vehicle based on Ford's popular full-size pickup truck platform. I don't check with the government when I'm ready to buy a truck, but I'm pretty sure if I went to the Ford dealer and told the salesman I was looking for a truck he would say something like "we got F-250s, F-150s, and Expedtions. Which one would meet your needs?" In any case, that's what happened when I went to the Ford dealer to buy my last TRUCK.

Yep.
I'd argue that the Expedition is more of a truck with out a bed, than a Honda Ridgeline is with one.
The Expedition has a bed...
It's just covered with carpet, and has a really good fitting cap... :D

Hey we still have a 2007 Rainier with 60,000 miles on it now. It's got a 6500lb tow capacity with a 5.3 liter in it and a full truck frame plus rear locking diff aka G80, and 3.73's and 4AWD and every convenience/tv, nav, heated leather, you can think of. It tows the hell out of our Chaparral. It is just a jazzed up trailblazer with about a page long of extra improvements over the trailblazer...then at the very end of the Trailblazer run they added the improvements. The Rainier was the first in the GMT360 line of similar vehicles to allow you to buy a v8 and so that was the big differentiator plus of course it was 45k new and loaded which was way overpriced. It's my wife's daily driver and while she could drive any vehicle of her choosing....she love the Rainier.
