I have a 1996 Evinrude 225hp v6 looper that just got rebuilt. The powerhead remanfucaturer called me today with what he called the cause of the original powerhead failure. This was the powerhead that had an upper crank bearing failure about three months ago. Anyway, they said that I needed to check the little rubber hose that connects the lower crankcase bearing to the upper crankcase bearing. It has a oneway check valve inline that supplies the upper crank bearing with lubrication. I disconnected the upper line right below the flywheel and sure enough there was no oil in the line. I now have about 4 hours on the new powerhead and there has been no lubrication to the upper crank bearing. with the line disconnected i cranked up the motor on muffs and there was no oil coming out the the line. I can tell that this line and check valve was not replaced with the new powerhead.

Will running the new powerhead for about 4 hours like this cause permanent damage to the upper crank bearing? Will the motor be ok if i just replace the line and check valve?

Please help!!!!
