The SEC tourney was halted from a small twister hitting the GA dome, ripped the dome fabric but no one hurt.

Oh come on TD... activate the phone tree! :D

seriously though, a little Db of people searchable by location would be cool, just so when something like this happens, we know who might be affected by it. Actually, the forum itself already has the info in the Db's, all that would be necessary to make it work would be the right querry to search for members by location.

Re: Atlanta Tornado's

That would be ok Sgt if people put their location in their profile like we do.
Those that don't, we could never find.

True, but only those people would be in the same position we are all in now. :)

I would write the querry for you, but I'm not familiar with the structure of vBulletin Db's.

Re: Atlanta Tornado's

there is another problem with this, is people change there email addy's, and don't update their profile, so many are not reachable. i've been trying for weeks to get in contact with someone who was a very active member.

Been a long night for me, watching the weather and checking on my network systems. My primary datacenter is directly across the street from phillips arena. Luckily no damage and never lost power, My boss and one other member of my team live about two miles south of where it hit. Said it was one of the worst storms they can remember, but gone in about 10 minutes. good thing it moved in and out fast. Had it lingered it would have been much worse.

mods.....if this was a voulantary thing we signed up for.....not all members would be active......it would be say....less than 1/2 of a percent ...of active members....thats a pretty close knit community......

but lots of work man.....would need a member to build somthin....(so i boats didnt carry the cost).......then it would be more feasable......and easer to track....say 10 members in each state/province......

for example.......id drive to vancouver to check up on rob j if there was an earthquake in vancouver ......and he didnt check in.

im just thinking out loud here

We are okay, but there were fatalities just about 10 miles west of here. We heard on the news that a certain neighborhood had just disappeared, and we have friends living in there. We finally managed to go check it out later this afternoon, and the front have of the neighborhood is obliterated, but the back half, where our friends live, luckily remained unscathed.

I like the idea... and you're right, we could run it off a separate server where it would be an optional thing to sign up for. Hmm... might look into throwing something like that together.

Wait a minute, I'm totally over-thinking this... all that's really necessary is a simple file. It's not like there would be so many people signing up for it that it would be so difficult to follow up on... in fact... we could even simply start a sticky'd thread where people could sign up by posting their contact info, or remove themselves by editing their post and removing it.
