Abosolutely, take the classes, knowledge is a wonderful thing! If you can walk, & stand most of the day, you could be a service writer, parts counter person, parts manager, etc... If nothing else, a better informed boat salesman. You didn't say "where local is". In my area almost every dealership would hire a guy that took it upon himself to get trained.

The best training for outboards in Florida is Marine Mechanics Institute ( MMI ) in Orlando.

Contact Les Barkley toll free at 866-664-2378 for info.

One of the best outboard wrenches I ever knew worked from a wheelchair, Mike.

Didn't lift and carry, obviously, but he had a nose for problems and magic fingers.

You can do what you decide you can do.

Best of luck. :)

dude go for it.
I was set out at 30% in 93 and have done this full time again ever since. somedays climbing in and out is a challenge but it means once I do get out I am right cause I dont like to do it much. I have heard the school in orlando is very good. all mine has been factory schools.
a very good friend of mine has a yamaha service center and is legally blind, not only can he do rebuilds but is very good with the old inline mercs. its funny to watch him with his 1/2 thick glasses and a lighted magnifying glass but it works when he is done.
good luck and keep us posted on what ya do :)
