Audio/Battery power question

I want to run equipment on my pontoon boat (CD player, amplifier, 6 speakers, 2-4 subs, and rope lights) on a pontoon boat. How long will batteries power this setup, and how many should I use in a parallel wiring? I don't plan on charging the batteries from the alternator, just a trickle charger after use.

A trickle charger won't cut it. You'll need a 5 or 6 amp charger unless you don't intend to use the boat for a couple of days while the battery charges. Unless you tell us how many amps will this setup draw we can't help you. When you figure that out, divide that number into the capacity of the battery (Amp hour rating) to get run time. My suggestion is to go ahead and build the system. Buy the largest capacity deep cycle battery you have room for. Turn the system on and run it until it dies. That's how long it will run. You double the time by adding another battery.

[colour=blue]A pontoon boat with a large sun canopy is the perfect candidate for a serious solar panel (9amp should do the trick nicely) 8)
