Re: Audio installation?

Serge 33....what really bothered me, or "made me ill" was that you asked a simple question, and at some point felt overwhelmed and that you couldn't do what you asked about.
Adding a subwoofer to a boat is done everyday. Again, your reason for doing it and your expectations have a lot to do with the outcome. If you simply want a little higher output and full bass response, it can be done easily and without rebuilding your boats electrical system. Please email me...we'll disscuss it.
As for the other comments: Yes, you are right. If you want to pound bass and run a multi-amp sound system for hours without running the engines of the boat, you need a "house" battery bank. Just like you would if you wanted to run an inverter powering an air conditioning system or run a trolling motor for several hours. Again, what I got from the original post, was simply an audio upgrade. Not a "competition" system to run for hours on end. I of course have to point out that even a 500 watt subwoofer, that is reproducing reasonable audio, is only drawing maximum amperage on the "peaks", and most of the time drawing much less power. Again, I'm looking at a guy that is just not happy with his factory boat system, and wants something better. It seams that we "talked him" out of doing that....that's a shame.

Re: Audio installation?

I love this thread because I am aspiring to upgraded my factory marine audio.

I cant believe that more Marine installs aren't done. The added dynamic of a single sub changes the way I listen to all my music. I have subs in my car, subs in my home, and want subs in my boat.

Im not looking to rattle windows as I cruise past, merely upgrade to quality of sound my stock audio cant possibly reproduce.

I DO like the idea of a second battery and know that it is nearly common practice on most higher end installs, and should I require a little more bass down the road, I would just as soon do it right the first time.

That being said:

Does anyone have some detailed information about running a second battery. Where to put it. How to wire it up. Layouts. Drawings. Tips. Ideas. Would a strike cap suffice?

Help.

Re: Audio installation?

Just finished installing a Pyle marine (4x50 watt) stereo, 2-6.5 Pyle speakers and a Bazooka 8" amplified tube (50 watts). Sounds good enough for us and the kids can connect the ipod to it.

Re: Audio installation?

I have a 2010 GT 205, with the rear dual speakers as well and I know they are junk. I blew my first one out on the maiden voyage, they just aren't loud enough while at cruising speed to hear in the captains chairs, nor even up front in the bow.

The stock deck does does have some RCA outputs for an amp, and while I thought a bout a sub myself, I really don't need one. Upgraded decks and component speakers can produce enough bump for my ears. If you were to add 4 more speakers, (2 next to captain chairs, and 2 more up in the bow) that should be more than enough for you bud. Also, where you see the carpet/vinyl on the gunnels, those do pop out in order to gain access for wiring. Or if you pop the rear speakers there is ample space to feed a wire up to the next hole you would drill for speakers.

I am not sure myself how I am going to add more speakers myself, because i have a wakeboard tower and would rather mount a couple up there as well.

Re: Audio installation?

I'm currently installing a Blue Sea Add-A-Battery (http://bluesea.com/products/7650) with a new deep cycle battery to run my stereo. I'm adding a car sub and amp (because they're sitting in my garage. It's simple, power and ground to the battery, and wire up the Add-a-Battery (which has the diagram on the package).

The reason I'm adding the second battery is for when we're sitting in a cove swimming and listening to the tunes with the motor off. I don't want to drain the main battery.
