So, what is a OK radio? I see other radios dont have a 'splash cover' is it needed if its a marine radio? (Or can I get away with a car radio with a spash cover?

I'm only interested in around 100.00

Yes, you can use an automotive stereo with a splash cover.

Order a splash cover from Overton's or West Marine, then go down to your local Wal-Mart and pick up a Pioneer, Sony, or whatever brand you prefer. You may want to keep in mind any future upgrades that you intend to do as you are buying your HU.

I just bought from Pyle too and have the same problems.
Sounds great when the motor is off, BUT........as soon as I turn on the motor the sound cuts out. It is very hard to read with a Mmeter because it will average the voltage and you will not read any spikes. I'm going to run a big capacitor and let you know if that helps, next will be to use a 12V regulator.
This unit will not take any voltage spikes, bad design but can be fixed.

OK, I returned the Plye of...... got a Dual Marine radio, and it works Great! same wiring, just added the radio, and I can crank it up to distortion and it does not cut out! It does not cut out even when I start the motor ( with the starter going). So It was the radio. I would not by Pyle again. Also, the new Dual has OK sound and the price was about the same. It plays MP3 encoded CDs and has an external Iplug for the kids to plug in their MP3 players. I bought a splash shield for it, so it came to a bit over 100, but the 50watts per side makes enough sound to hear it when cruising.

So all is good.
