Aussies and Kiwi friends, the 3Angels Broadcasting network (3ABN)has the satellite Optus B3 (or is it Obtus?)that now covers Australia and New Zealand. This is really great Christian programming that the whole family can view safely.

For my friends in the USA, there is a satellite service called Sky Angle. You can get a lifetime subscription to the service for $400, and it has a bunch of channels with music videos, old westerns, some radio stations, and loads of preaching, and it's all Christian!

Dear Soulwinner,
Seeing no one else from the southern end of the planet has posted a reply, I thought I had better show some appreciation for your interest. Be assured we have all read your post.
For me, well........ that sort of TV is not really me at the moment, but be assured, I appreciate your interest in us, and if you come across something else you feel we may take an interest in, then please put it up.
I think I can speak generally for the others down here: "we do take an interst in the topics, and do want to learn more about other peoples", so thanks very much.
The outfit is OPTUS.
Cheers
Phillip

Hi Kiwi Phil!!

It is my understanding that a good deal of the folks down that way use satelites for television reception, and in the Australian outback for telephones as well. Thats why I posted a heads up on the new service/channel. 3ABN is one of my favoritesin the SkyAngel line up. I thank you for your reply :)

Hope you guys have had a good summer. Our winter here was really nice and mild in North West Florida, but now I'm ready for the fishing to pick up :)

You are dead right with the satelites for TV receptions. We need one if we want what I think you would term cable, plus we need one for the internet if we want fast stuff, and we don't live so far from a major city.
Out the Back they definately need satelites. There is a great photo of a phone box with a solar panel and a dish on top. There is not so much a blade of grass between it and the horizon, 360 degrees, and the captions below says "call home anytime".
I also understand the farmers out there had satelite phones long before the military. They came in a type of brief case, and the lid was the dish. You had a table that told you what time a satelite would be coming over the horizon, what degrees to turn the lid to, and how much time you had before you had to re-adjust the lid. And away you went, call home and tell mum when you would be there. I have only every seen them on TV programs.
The problem is, to much area and not enough people to warrant conventional infrastructure.
As for the weather here, well I would guess it could be similar to your part of the world. Summer is hell, winter is great. Just had 5 days in a row with temps over 40C (? 105F) and one day at my place it was 45C (? 115F). Add high humidity to that and it is not pleasant.
The sun is so fierce my wife won't wear boots (we have a production nursery)as when she gets dressed up to go out etc she has what we call "white socks" and that is brown legs/arms etc with pure white feet up to where her ankle socks finish. Looks rediculious. Now wears open sandals and goes barefoot for an hour a day to keep the feet same colour all over. Has to wear sun proof clothing too, as gets a "bra" mark clean through conventional clothing.Skin cancers are a risk too so take precautions.
Cheers
Phillip
