About 1 year ago iboats stopped working in Austraila on some ISP servers. I was a member called Unicorn back 3 or so years ago here.
Well... Looks like we're back online and I was able to use my original name. For a while there I thought it was to do with our Mel Gibson and his loose tongue..:^
Now for the questions..
Who won the member count ? .... Guess it wasnt me.
Is Clams still here?
And the famous JB ?
Rickdlboat?
What happen to history of posts going back to 2000 ?

Re: Aussies back on line.....

I am newer than a lot of your questions Unicorn, but I was in Oz last week and could not login without using a Proxy sever. To be precise, I was in Perth as late as the 2nd and tried to log in without using the Proxy and it didn't work . . . JB posted within the hour, I saw rickd1boat on another site a couple of days back while following up on a Bondo thread . . . I don't recall the last time he was here.

I posted this from Hong Kong with no need to use the Proxy . . . Welcome back, I still haven't made it to Queensland other than the Airport.

Re: Aussies back on line.....

Thanx QC
Queensland is a bit like Perth but its usually about 26deg+celsuis EVERY day and we share your ocean at Chino hills I suppose.. The mighty Pacific.
Thats why we moved up from the south... I see JB is still here and still grumpy too :/ (dont tell him).. But I have to say that this site is still no 1 on outboard knowledge and people like the afore mentioned are worth their weight in gold.
They had a competion a few years back trying to predict how many members would join by a given date for a prize. I notice a lot of dead wood memberships have been culled to speed up the server.

Welcome back Unicorn. I think the contest you are refering to was, "What date will iboats hit 100,000 members?". It came up here in conversation a while back. It is still on. 8)

How do you like the new look of the forums? :%

Don't get use to it they're going to change it again in a few weeks. :^

[colour=blue]BTW, he's probably too shy to say - but unicorn knows a thing or two about older mercs.

Phil, that cafe I mentioned last week, it's in Scarborough marina. The beer patio overhangs the water and you can throw food to the HUNDREDS of snapper that call that area home.

That is still pretty close Aldo. Know the place....and spent time there looking at boats.
Let me know the dates etc.
Are you staying in the area?

[colour=blue]Nope. We'll be in central Brissy (that's fairly close I suppose, but we won't have a car, except for a borrowed one - maybe) for a week or so and then Airlie Beach for a week or so but nothing's booked yet - Kerryn's health determines whether or not we proceed.

Re: Aussies back on line.....

OK...keep me posted on detail and we will sort something out. I'd enjoy that.
Have spoken to Anita.
You are welcome to come out to our place for a day/meal etc. The electric train goes close to us too and that is probably the easiest form of transport.

Good to hear you Aussies are able to log on again. This place wouldn't be the same without your great sense of humor! 8)

Aldo.. Phil You guys are stiil here and Ladyfish is a familiar name too.
I see Jasonj and other Mercsters are also still around.
About the Old Mercs..Most of my knowledge came from this site. I have a new one now.. still loyal to the company (Mariner) and the old one was sold to a good home stiil running like new. ..in fresh water too. Morayfield is near where I now live (Bribie) but I have a soft spot for my old hometown Melbourne but the weather here is to die for.

Phil

I have only lived there for a few months. Moved from Caloundra for shorter drive to work in Brissy. Caloundra is magnificent.. but too many holidayheads and oldies and units and waterwallies.Bribie has the Passage, Morton bay and the ocean (weather permitting). It is really a great place for the boatie.

Are we referring to the infamous ray of a few yrs back ?
And not to mention a certain Canadian member who now has his own site ?
