I have a 94 Ram 1500 with a sliding rear glass. While cleaning the old truck up I noticed the entire glass unit moved with just a little pressure applied. It looks like whatever adhesive was used has dissipated. Anyone have any suggestions on what to use to reseal this thing? I would really hate to loose my glass while riding down the road...:D

Well you came to the right place lol there are two ways it might have been installed #1 soft butle with bolts (behind the trim) #2 urathane like the windshild. If it's #1 the nut might have fell off or the stud broke, if it's #2 then you will have to remove the whole window from the truck clean all the old urathane off of the winow frame and reinstal with new urathane.

Re: Auto Glass Anyone?

I thought the sliding rear windows just used a big rubber gasket w/o sealant. I would check and see if there is a gasket inside that is not wrapped around the frame.

Huh that is how we used to break into them (legally at a car dealership)....

Go to any glass shop and ask for the urathane to install auto glass. They will usually sell you a tube and to be honest they might even do it for minimal money.

That urathane is some nasty stuff....... word to wise .... wear rubber gloves.

LOL I bet 3m5200 would work but it's bright white!

that is the way it used to be but now they are either bolted or glued because widows have become a strucual part uf the cab for roll over protection

Re: Auto Glass Anyone?

I've replaced a few late model rear windows and use a 2x4 in the front window frame and a 2x4 across the back window along with some pony clamps, ratchet straps or whatever to hold them in place after setting the window in

Available at any auto paint supply or decent auto parts store, about $15. Be liberal in the application.

The frame is all one unit, no bolts, no gasket, appears to be glued in, as many times as I go to advance in a week I have never sen any kind of window glue...other than the rear view mirror glue, guess I will check NAPA. Thanks for the advice and the direction to go....
