Good to know. We finally did the responsible thing and bought some for my wife and I for the upcoming season. They are expensive but I realize we have been stupid not to wear them. Also, I noticed that the recharge units are expensive.

Automatic inflatable vests, other than the Mustang hydrostatic ones, will inflate if they get sufficiently wet and do not need to be submerged to do so. Mustang hydrostatic vests must be submerged at least 6 inches before they automatically inflate. Course you can always just pull the manual release to inflate any of them. I hope to buy a couple of the hydrostatic ones this year.
