Automatic inflation PFD - Yes or No??

I need an opinion on the automatic inflation life jackets ( type V ). I am not sure I am sold on the technology. This one in particular is a Stearns automatic / manual CO2 discharge pfd.

Are these worth the cash? (Westmarine cost: $110) or should I get a type I, II for the same cash and I know it will keep me afloat once I hit the water.

I typically wear a jacket at all times since I boat alone alot and I also boat inshore and very little offshore.

the water temp doesn't get above 70 degrees in the height of summer, it is usually in the 50's and 60's in the North East.

I can see them being desirable in the heat, but that's it right now..

Any thoughts?

Thanks Dualie

We have one of those auto-inflating vests. Mine inflated when somebody leaked water on it after swimming....
