A local rebuilder may have sold them to you cheaper as well.He would have them in stock also.At the Toyota dealer that I worked at they probably didn't sell 5 sets of contacts in a year.Even at the price you paid it was far cheaper than buying from Auto zone and you have a better starter.
As far as warr. off the shelf in my area of Ont. it is usually 3 mon. and you're lucky to get a year from some.No lifetime warr. from any suppliers that I know of.

No matter how much the brushes were at the Toyota dealer, I wouldn't buy the Autozone starter.

I would not buy the AutoZone starter either as they are junk, a rebuilt NipponDenso ? Sure, it was a NipponDenso when it was new now its just a hacked together pile of junk for all most the same price as a high quality new Denso of Tn. starter which is the OEM part.
I doubt the original is even Nippon but just plain Denso, made in Tn.

I dont think $18 is a rip off for the contacts either considering all the stealership's overhead.
My local Yota dealer didnt stock them and could not/would not get them and a local rebuilder also does not sell parts, too easy for the rebuilder to lose business then. Local rebuilders are a good place to go.

I want my engine to start when I turn the key so a local rebuilder or Napa gets my business. I would take a used OEM starter from a boneyard over a Zone starter.

There are many makes back to 1988, not just Toyota, that use these particular contacts. Most kit comes with four contacts and a plunger. You only use 2 contacts, depending on your particular solenoid...You can find just 4 the contacts on eBay for about 10 bucks.

I'm sure you can get them locally from places other than a dealer. I now know that I can. My buddy owns a HD repair shop and buys them from the local autoparts store to repair motorcycle starters....Yep, even 15 years worth of Harley Big Twins uses the same contacts.
