LAFAYETTE, La. - Willie Nelson and four others were issued misdemeanor citations for possession of narcotic mushrooms and marijuana after a traffic stop Monday morning on a Louisiana highway, state police said.

The citations were issued after a commercial vehicle inspection of the country music star's tour bus, state police said in a news release.

"When the door was opened and the trooper began to speak to the driver, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana," the news release said. A search of the bus produced 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana and 0.2 pounds of narcotic mushrooms, according to state police.

Nelson's publicist, Elaine Shock, declined immediate comment.

Also cited were Tony Sizemore, 59, of St. Cloud, Fla.; Bobbie Nelson, 75, of Briarcliff, Texas; Gates Moore, 54, of Austin, Texas; and David Anderson, 50, of Dallas.

Each was released after being issued a citation.

Nelson, 73, has recorded songs including "On the Road Again" and "City of New Orleans."

How is smoking dope being wrong with god? Shrooms too? Those are both GOD MADE products. No refining needed for either one of them to be consumed. As a former LEO and someone who has 13 years in corrections I still support legalism of mary jane. Never smoked it myself, still waiting for it to be legal, but don't care if you do, just not when I'm on patrol.

Zmoz maybe you can help me out here... it's been more than a few years since I heard this poem, but the last couple lines go like this:

Don't smoke anymore, pot that is...it's the legal issue that bugs me. Alcohol is far more dangerous and addictive than mary jane, yet it is legal and pot is not?

weed should be legal! taxed like booze, that would free up drug enforcment to stop the hard stuff that needs to be gone! use the tax money in our schools, new computers on every desk, internet on every computer, e-books instead of hard backs, well you get the picture!

I believe God is good, and drugs are bad. I am not so niave as to not realise that many,many people are 180degrees opposed to that -- They believe God is bad, and their drugs are good.

I can and do judge them. They atack me and many of my countrymen VERY close-to-home, Pony. And their abuse cost taxpayers (you'll understand this when you get out there in a few years and start paying them yourself) billions of dollars ,killing thousands of people , iether directly by weapon, or on our highways, and clog our hospital emergency rooms with NEEDLESS overdose and complications cases -- many times, on my insurance premium dime!
