Winters rule here, with cold touching -20F for many days, and plenty of deep snow. We are supposed to get another 10-12" of snowfall tomorrow, and are talking about getting one more snow ski day in just for the novelty. Our lake sits at 9,300' elevation, and is still hard water. We set a record this year for new snow and the snowpack is needed, not just for the Rockies, but for the thirsty and drought ridden Southwest which is fed by our Colorado River watershed.
Despite enjoying snowsports, since the second week in March I've been asking the family at breakfast to guess what day it is? First it was 2 1/2 months until we could pull her out of hibernation and splash her either on or before Memorial Day. Then it was 6 weeks.
Now it's less than a month away. We cannot wait. Boating season is short in the Rockies, but oh so sweet.
Ahoy iboats.
