Well doesn't this just figure... we've been under drought conditions for going on 5 weeks now with maybe 2" of rain over that 5-6 week span... So, this week I ended up with 4 days off because of the way the holiday falls.. planned on spending a lot of time on the water. Well, I got to head out with my dad last night for a couple hours and do some trolling, didn't catch anything but still a great evening regardless...

So, today, my wife and I finally got a babysitter for our boys, and their keeping them overnight! WOOT! We decided that, since last Thursday was our 9yr anniversary and we didn't get to go out, we made plans to take the boat out this evening, do some fishing, stop by a shore-front restaurant and have dinner on the deck, enjoy a few drinks and do some more fishing... Well, low-and-behold, we're supposed to be heading out in the next hour, and look what decided to show up....

Currently, we're having wind gusts upwards of 50mph, and got close to 2 solid inches of rain in a 20 minute span... Just praying that it isn't going to last much longer and it clears up so we can still give it a shot!

Yeah man, depending on what 'slums' of Erie your in, we have very similar weather..in fact our weather is patterns are about 80% caused by Lake Erie.

Well, last night turned out to be a GREAT evening for the wife and I... the weather turned out to be great, after we got done eating, we headed back out and cruised around a little bit, then found a spot to drop anchor and try some shoreline and bottom fishing. As we sat there with the radio playin, we see this party barge takin a slow cruise up-river, with 5 other boats tied off to the sides of it, people everywhere on the boats just havin a good time.. well, they 'parked' about 1500-2k yds north of us, and it hit me that I recognize the barge from pictures a buddy at work showed me.. it's his boat lol.. we after talking to them for a bit, the wife and I settled in and got ready for night to fall. (unfortunately I didn't think to take pictures of my buddy's barge) So as we sit there fishing, all of the sudden directly on the opposite side of the river from where we was anchored, a fireworks display started... we had NO IDEA that there was any scheduled for last night, and just by pure luck we anchored in the perfect viewing spot!! So, not only did we get to enjoy an evening of fishing, dinner, and relaxation, we also got to watch a 30-minute fireworks show! Such an incredible evening! Didn't do so well on the fishing part...I had one Gar about 18" long that I ended up just cutting free, and the wife had 3 channel cat's in the 12-20" range that she didn't get all the way into the boat (two of which was thanks to their fetish with our anchor line :facepalm: ) I would say this one goes down in my book of favorite-to-date times on the water and hopefully heading out to our 'spot' today with the kids to do some swimming.

Well, after we went an hour or so without so much as a hit, there was much debate about whether we was going to pull anchor, move and drop anchor again, go cruise around the river, or head home... we ended up cruising for about 30 minutes, then loaded up (first time loading the boat after dark, and my wife's first time fully backing the trailer from the lot, and down the ramp, and wouldn't ya know it was the quickest, and easiest load we've ever had! lol), we didn't have the boat on the trailer for maybe 10 minutes, pulling out of town and it stormed to beat-all lol.. just missed getting caught in a nasty storm for the SECOND Time this year on the boat haha
