axle bearings

I have an older style integral hub type trailer wheel for an Elgin / Sears boat trailer.

These are hard to find and I found a guy looking to get of 2 of these.

The problem is my axle is 3/4" and the hubs/axle opening on these are 1". The guy said I could get different bearings and it would work.

I only plan to use one of these for the sapre.

Does this sound right? Can the "right" bearing make this wheel work?

Thanks!

Mike

Re: axle bearings

Just one measurement on a bearing doesn't usually allow conversion. If the inner diameter is 3/4 inch yours, the outer diameter of the race it must run in may also be smaller. If you find 3/4 inch bearings that runs in the same race as a one inch bearing then yes it will work. Otherwise not.

Re: axle bearings

Thanks for the reply.

After re-reading the post, I see I was not very descriptive of my issue.

My current wheels are made for a 3/4" axle. The sellers wheels are made for a 1" axle. He suggested getting different bearings to make the the 1" wheels work on my trailer.

Hope this helps.
