So in the process of replacing my leaf springs, I check my bearings and races. They look fine, I replaced them last year...but the spindle is badly pitted, which I don't remember it looking like last year. Is this a problem?

No problem. The bearings do not ride there....... now based on the photo it looks like pitting where the seal rides too........

If it was my spindle I would assemble it and not worry a bit ;)

Re: Axle spindle question

Cool, that's what I kinda figured-- all the rotation takes place on the bearings, after all.

I was just suprised at the look of that axle spindle-- seems like I remember both sides being nice and smooth last year.

Mike that's a good thing :D Many people neglect the wheel bearings until they start singing or smoking.
