i have a sunfish sailboat (13.5 ft long). i recently noticed that the axle seems veryy far back. ive never had problems towing it, even with the overhang. i am moving the winch post foward though, how much should i?

also i wouldnt be able to move the axle easily.
could it have something to do with it being a tilt trailer?

That axle needs to be back because the boat overhangs the trailer so much.

If the boat is properly supported and the trailer tows ok there is no need to
move the axle.Tongue weight should be about 5 to 10% of the total weight.
The boat could go forward to the the winch tower but the tongue weight should make your decision how far.Would be good to have the tower at the bow of the boat may be cecessary to move the tower.

the boat is properly supported, but when i move the tower foward the bow wont be supported. i plan on just buying a bow roller to solve that.

Why do you think you need to move it? Is the tongue weight too light?
