I have an 85 B-liner that I had gotten from ebay for <1k She had a recently rebuilt OMC 800 outdrive w/a 305 v/8.
Bad news was I had to replace the whole interier and manifolds. The starboard motor mount was mulch so I fixed that with the motor in the boat. I banged on the transom with a hammer and it seemed solid and the transom tiedowns were solid. I ran the boat many times last summer/fall and it was solid and drove great. But last month I decided to pull the motor and outdrive to go through stuff and replace the port side motor mount I found 3' of the stringer is starting to rot. Not mulch but definatly soft, and the bottom 4" of the transom starting to go(mix of gear lube and rotting wood right below the outdrive hole)
I could a} fix it b} sell al the parts(outdrive, IH,carb, Heads ,engine, guages and etc) and buy another boat(what I'm probably gonna do)or c} find another hull to stick my parts on.
I would like to hear some opinions on this (no bashing of brand names please)
Also if anyone would like to give a realistic opinion of what the engine,outdrive, trailer and misc parts could sell for if I went with option B
