anybody know if a "C" rated tire will last any longer than a "B" rated tire. i need to replace the tires on a small trailer. load capacity is not a question. "B" rated tires are more than adequate. "C" rated tires only cost a few dollars more so i have been wondering if i could get a couple more years life out of a "C" tire than a "B" tire. like a lot of trailers the tires on this one die of old age before wear. if i could change them out at 6 years instead of 4 years in the long run they would be cheaper.

You won't get anymore wear out of the "C" rated tires. The main difference will be the stiffness of the sidewalls. If the B's are adequate with some margin, you should go with them.

The difference between "B" and "C" tires is the number of cord plys. My load range "E" are 10 ply rating.

The ply rating of todays tires do not indicate the number of layers inside the sidewalls. This is a holdover from early bias ply tire days. The ply rating that we have now just indicates a relative load rating.

keeping your tires covered, extends the life greatly. exposure to the sun does a lot of damage.

B and C is the load range. To make a comparison on actual treadwear there is a number on the sidewall of the tire(unless it's a really cheap China import)It is in small print with the word"Treadwear" in front of it. This is a three digit number. The higher the number the greater the treadwear. Compare the two numbers and you'll know which one should give you the best wear.

Also won't have it if it's a trailer tire...which I assume this post is about.
