I cleaned my carburator several times, and still cannot get this motor to run properly. The problem: it start very easy, but idle then rev high, idle again and rev high. Anybody experienced this on their motor? I am starting to give up but if you can advise me what to check or do, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

Sounds to me like your float levels are completly wrong.

The float sits there when the pin to hold it is inserted. The needle is being hold by the float. How do I check the float level? I was about to go out and buy a carburator gasket when I read your comment.

Re: B100s (bf100e)

Thank you very much for answering my questions, I put down on its side and level it, it is off quite a bit. I will try it tommorow. One more question though, I noticed that when I remove the carburator housing from the engine, there is no gasket on the side of the carburator, but there is a gasket at the side of the engine that is I think glued in there(I do not know how you call the other end). Do I need to put or apply any gasket seal on the metal side of the carburator?

Re: B100s (bf100e)

After leveling the float I install it again and there is no gas going inside the carburator so I adjust it again. So now it starts with 1 pull but idle and rev hi and so on.

all you are going to get in a carb kit for a Honda is a set of gaskets. If you want a new needle valve and float you need to buy them seperately. Just make sure the small orfices are clear/clean, you might have to use a piece of a wire brush or some similar to get down small enough and air pressure.

I meant I will buy the whole unit including everything inside the carb for $106.00 plus $12.00 shipping at cheap boat parts. This way all I have to do is connect it and hopefully will solve my problems. I will sell the old carb as used and hopefully someone who knows how to fix it will buy.

I have never priced a carb, but that is a cheap way of fixing the problem, if in fact it is a carb problem. Definately cheaper than the outragious labor rates some shops charge. Out local Honda shop wants $100.00 (US) hourly, so that is the price of the new carb, go for it.

I was just scrolling back here and noticed that you may have not done a general health check on this engine. That's hard to determine as you keep jumping around on the site. Please focus on one thread for one engine.

I got my new carb and install it, it is factory pre-set so I do not have to adjust anything. All works great, I spend $138.00 cdn. including shipping and applicable tax. Heck much cheaper than getting the dealer to re-build the carb, hey charge $100.00/hour and there is no guarantee they can make it work. This carb is original made in Japan.
