I have the mentioned motor and under load it pops out of gear. My suspicion is the clutch dog, but Ive been told to check the detent and detent springs.

YouTube searches have not been helpful thus far. Can anyone provide a link I can read or watch on how this is done?

Detent spring on the propshaft has nothing to do with holding it in gear.---Check that both shift rod notches are l
lined up with holes in the connecter,-------Adjust shift at the side of the block for equal engagement of forward and reverse.
