Tyme, Great to hear you are healing so well. As for that staple removal, don't even worry about them. I have ~40 of them in me and I was worried they would hurt really bad when they removed them. But they have this little tool that takes them out without any pain what so every. In fact, I would rather staples now instead of stiches. JMHO!

Thanks gm280. I had staples for the previous surgery and was surprised how easy and painless they were pulled out. Sounded like BB's when he plopped them in the catch pan.

I might have spoken too soon. I typed my post before we went to the grocery store. After all that activity and me standing at the sink cutting up the chicken wings I'm a little sore now and might take a pain med. The incision sites are mighty sore and tender now.

You just gotta take your time. Recovery is different for everyone and its going to take how ever long it takes.

Eight days post surgery:
I wore too tight jeans yesterday and that was a mistake. I thought I was putting on my "fat" jeans but they were just my "husky" jeans. Lesson learned.
Woke up this morning feeling pretty darn good. I was even able to sleep on my stomach last night!
No pain pills yet today and I'm beginning to feel somewhat normal. I can stand, sit, and walk with very minimal discomfort.
I guess I'm starting to heal. I'll have the staples removed next Wednesday. It still feels weird when I touch the "zippers" on each leg.

I wore nothing but sweat pants for almost 2 months after mine.
My 1st 2 nights home I slept in my recliner because I couldn't lay flat. put too much strain on my staples in my stomach, legs were closed up with super glue. No stiches or staples in my legs.

When I went to get the staples removed from my stomach as my dr. approached with the puller I cringed and he started laughing at me. So I asked him what he was laughing at he replied. " I watched you for a week while you were in the hospital and not once did you complain of pain or discomfort but now you're going to get squeamish about removing the staples?"

Sorry but I have a sensitive tummy!

The day after I got home I was out twice a day walking to the end of the street, about 2 blocks, By the end of the week I was out walking about 10 blocks. Wasn't very fast but I could do it w/o being exhausted when I got back. After a month I did times walks. 1/2hr out and 1/2hr back and as I healed I just increased the distance I could do in that 1/2 hr.

Are you experiencing any nerve damage or loss from the incisions? I did.

I had them when they did my bowel resection. What made me laugh - post event - was when the doc removed 'em. The instrument was almost exactly a standard office staple remover. The nurse was taking her time, and warning me before each "poink." The doc took over when he came in and just stripped 'em out like he was opening a zip-lok bag :)

It's amazing how much time the body needs for real recovery. You get to feeling good and then try to do a little too much. It's good to push it some, but it'll wear ya' out too. Hang in Tyme.

I had 2 hernia surgeries within a 3 month period ... the second one, which I thought was going to be the easy one, ended up with a more difficult recovery period for some reason. That said, we all heal differently, and can react differently to basically the same issue. Your recovery cannot be gauged by anyone else's recovery, or even by your own past recovery. This recovery is unique to you. Know your limits and push yourself to them, but not over them. Don't be too macho to take your pain meds, but also don't be dependent on them. Get up, move, do things, but not so much that you are exhausted and in MAJOR pain later that day or the next day. We all got your back and are praying for your recovery. Hang in there, it will only take tyme ...

I'm not sure. I get some weird sensations occasionally just a little bit down past the incision sites on my legs.

Feel like an itchy sunburn?

My left leg had nerves cut and the inside of my thigh from the incision to my knee had no feeling of touch. Could feel pressure in the area but I could also stick a needle in it and not feel anything. Feeling eventually came back.
