Hello all

I have back to back lounge seats in my 18 ft bow rider. There in bad shape where the seat itself has broken from the base. I saw on I boats they sell back to back seats with the bases. My question is how do these seats mount to floor and how do I take apart the old seats? There is carpet underneath the seats already. Thanks

My Bayliner Capri lounge seats were fiberglassed in and I had to hammer them apart then grind the fiberglass down smooth, it was tough. Now I will have to rebuild the seat frames. They used plywood glued together then fiberglassed all over it.

the new bases and seat bases are no wood, they are a composite material. yes they screw into the deck. be aware of the height of the bases.

my '74 MFG has little "L" brackets on the seats that are screwed to the floor.

Re: back to back lounge seats

My previous boat, a 25' Classic, had back to back lounge seats on a raised platform. The double seat was screwed to the floor through 2" x 4" cross pieces. Recommend that you seal the bottom of the seat base completely to minimize water getting into the base wood through capillary action, which would rot the base quickly. If you use "L" brackets instead, make sure they are sized correctly to hold the seat against the forces of acceleration and decelleration. And use only stainless or brass brackets, not steel. Steel rusts quickly. Good luck. Hy
