Yet another thread on this clutch pack.
1984 omc 3.8 v6.
The parts diagram is showing 2 oil seals on the starboard side of the clutch pack housing where the clutch shaft slides through.
Should there be 2 here? I currently only have 1 installed but I ordered 2 new ones.

The diagram shows the seals going back to back.
should I install both as the diagram says or just replace the 1 that I already have?

Heres a picture of the parts diagram, I am referring to Number 2 on the picture.
Also a picture of the seal.

Some had a single seal that was double lipped so the one seal replaced the two back to back seals or vice versa. I wouldn’t even bother re sealing that, it will never stayed sealed up and it’ll be full of water anyway. Every clutch pack is full of water on every boat out there, change the oil in it prior to winter so it doesn’t freeze, if not I really wouldn’t waste your time trying to get that to seal.

Oh okay got it, thank you for the help.
So the rubber lip of each seal is supposed to face in opposite directions from each other?

I was just just asking because I have it all taken apart and already have the new seals so I’m just going to put them in since it’s accessible right now, but I’ll be sure to change the oil while winterizing it.
