Re: backflushing?

Well you might have to do a few things that will require dismantling like dropping the lower unit and/or pulling that thermostat housing off, are you up to the task?

Re: backflushing?

On the model in question there are two hoses from the cylinder heads to the thermostat/relief valve housing.

Could you pull those hoses off connect a water supply to the cylinder heads and backflush from there. (no need to disturb the thermostats)

You would need to drop the lower unit though I think because you wont get much of a back flow through the water pump or will you? You would with enough pressure on the supply I guess.

Might need to block off the telltale

. (no need to disturb the thermostats)

That's if they are in there, another reason to pull the cover and a nice way to inspect verify they are working, thinking your motor has a blockage is a guess IMO.

Re: backflushing?

well i have recently had brand new thermostats installed, new water impeller installed, and when it started acting funny there was a bunch of debris like crushed leaves and stuff all in the water at the ramp where i cranked my motor, the answer to getting a water supply to the housing would be impossible because the back of the exhuast plate is covering the housing, thanks
