The grandkids are hard on these so I want to back them up. Some I have been able to back-up hoer I can not. Is there a way to back them up if they are protected?

Tanks for the help in advance

Re: Backing-up CD audio books

I would just copy the CD with the program that came with my CD burner and let the kids use the copies.

Examples: Nero, NTI, Roxio, etc... There are also some free CD duplication programs out there. It's been a while since I used any of them but "Clone CD" comes to mind.

On a related note. Can you put these books onto an ipod?

If so, how. Help this computer challenged person.

Sure, just use something to convert the cd audio to mp3 format. I don't own an ipod but I would have to assume the software that comes with it can do that. I rip/encode my CDs with EAC and lame encoder or Windows Media Player.

I tried clone CD and can not copy them! There must be a program out there that will capture the sound stream and burn it back.

DVDFab platinum will copy your DVDs to an ipod. Does a great job and I was able to figure it out. Will not work on CDs.

Windows media player may do what you want. Use the rip function to extract the data and the hook th ipod to your computer and run the sync function.

Are you getting some kind of software/windows error or do you believe the CDs copy protection is preventing you from duping the disc?

Go to http//:www.rocknaudio.com and download the free audio editor.
It has a way to rip, or even just record your speaker out-put. to many functions to mention, but this thing is great & free ! Use it all the time for backing up protected stuff..........
