I have a volvo I/O which was pulling to the left. I adjusted the "rudder" to the left to get rid of the pulling and now it tracks straight. But, now I can't steer the boat when backing up to the right? The boat has trim tabs. Does that make a difference? Are there other adjusments I can make?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: backing up

I'm not sure if you are still after a reply on this but if by rudder you mean the trim fin then it is affected by whether it is duoprop & rotation of prop. If you have a 290DP then set the fin at 5degrees to port [edge of fin is 93mm from edge of cav plate. If it's a 290SP with LH prop then it's 5 degrees [102mm from edge of cav plate]. If it's 290SP with rh prop then it's 30 degrees [80mm from edge of cav plate]. Regarding trim tabs - yes they will affect astern operation if they are down ... also if you have twin engines the 'toe-in' angle of the drives is important?
