Me thinks that Z should commend his state for finding a way to employ so many mentally challenged people. They seem to be around every corner and they are ALL working. WTG Oregon . . .

Pony, using a credit card is prepay!!!! It's not my fault the stupid pump didn't accept the card!

I went down the road to Murphy and it worked great!

I work in customer service and bend over backward at 2am to be friendly and help people. This chick was working at 7am in a nice warm store, not a cold azz, windy airplane ramp.

Re: Bad Chevron!

It's all freedom of choice. We have it when it comes to where we buy our gas.

Normally my wife and I buy our gas at the same local station and everyone knows everyone else. No rudeness no insults .........

I'm with Willybwright on this one. Who cares if the employee is rude!

Rude employees tend to get fired ...... what are you going to do when they start a the new gas station you are frequenting??? Would you stop using that brand too?

I guess if I earned minimum wage and had to put up with people complaining I would be rude too!

Uh...I do. It's bad enough they're charging me $3/gallon, they could at least do it with a smile. It's not like it's back breaking work. If there is a gas station that consistently employs nothing but rude people, and another one that doesn't, I'm not going to the rude place anymore.

I don't know about Chevron nationally, but all three of the stations around me are always the worst offenders. I always hear my friends and family complaining about them too. For a while another Chevron decided they would only take CCs at the pump if you filled your tank, otherwise you had to go in. (so you'd buy snacks) They quit after it became noticeably less crowded at all times.

"Space Age" stations on the other hand are usually great. They always charge about $0.05 less than chevron, the gas attendents are always quick and polite and free of gang tattos and peircings, the clerks are quick and competent, and their stations are in general cleaner and better looking. Sometimes they even clean my windows while I wait! All of them in the area are like this.

I don't know why Chevron only hires idiots, but it seems like some sort of company policy. At least locally anyway...

A very callow remark.
We all have choices, do you think choosing to be rude is the right one?\

I bet you've been waiting a long time to use the word "callow" in a sentence.

I usually feel that whenever I'm rude back at somebody it justifies their rudeness (in their own mind) in the first place. Whatever kind of insect has crawled up their butts to cause their rudeness is probly punishment enough. Getting into a shouting match is probably doing 'em a favor especially somebody hates their job much as that gal does.

So Chevron broke the card swiper? And I know credit cards are prepay......but this station is prepay regardless of what you choose to pay with. Their machine is set up with the wrong error message plain and simple. Is that Chevron's fault? Nope its not. I agree with your gripe IF there are no signs anywhere saying that you must prepay.

You can't blame the gas station for making people prepay. If there werent so many a-holes driving off with out paying it wouldn't matter. You use credit to avoid that whole mess, and I do as well. There was a card read error whether it be your card or the machine itself.

I'm not sure what you expected the girl to do. She is told by her superiors to not turn on a pump unless they prepay........which using a credit card bypasses in the system.

I use a credit card when traveling and pay at the pump, but I never pre pay at home, If they want pre pay where I have traded for 40 years I`ll go somewhere else. If they all go to pre pay, I`ll stock it 500 gals at a time in my home storage tanks. I aint going through the pre pay hassel. But I dont live in the big city where we have a lot of drive offs. Around here if they have a drive off, they just say, Fred drove off and forgot to pay, we`ll catch him the next time he`s in.

Pony, there were no signs or markings anywhere that said prepay, I looked while I was re-securing my scoot to leave. That station has taken my card a million times in the past.

What she should have done was gone and check to see what it said, and saw I was telling the truth, then said I'm sorry but it's prepay. She didn't say that. Or do that. Or care.

Re: Bad Chevron!

She didn't even have to go outside, just show a little empathy "I'm sorry, wish I could turn it on for you but I'm not allowed, guess the card reader's broke..." she don't really have to care, just act like she understands that it matters to you. You went in there pizt at the machine, how in the heck could she not understand that. But she don't really like that job anyway, and she's not very good at it, so why try?

I don't know of one pay after you pump station in CA. Try Arco, cash or ATM or nuttin'. Sometimes stuff is broked, sometimes people are azzhoes. My lifetime plan for azzhoes is kill 'em with kindness. If they can't finger it out, who's the one with the problem? It's not gonna be me . . .

Oh, I go to the gas station that is closest to where I am when I decide I need fuel. Unless Chevron delivers waterinthefuel to their franchisee, I am not going out of my way to avoid anybody.

Mr. C. we agree!....8)
Actually twice.....
I think it is grand that Oregon & my old home state (NJ)can provide jobs for Neanderthals through legisltion 8)
I guess prepay gas is a big city thing....
That, or everyone that doesn't live on the east or west coast are cave dwellers :)......
I wonder if that has any correlation to 'blue' versus 'red' states?....HMMMMMM, but I digress.....
I think that if I were in a real hurry, I would just throw a 20 at 'em, pump my gas & be on my way :).....JK

Actually my comment wasn't really meant to throw the entire state of Oregon under the petroleum based fuel bus. It was more of a comment on Z's typical assessment of his fellow men (and women) . . . ;)

Re: Bad Chevron!

Then clearly you have not been held captive by morons dispensing fuel in states where you cannot legally dispense fuel.....
It can be, shall we say,.....FRUSTRATING! :|
P.S., I find that they are less frustrating when it is cold & raining ;)......JK

Mssr. (sp?) Medoc,

You don't see the connection to Gov't regulation, welfare programs, indeed liberal positions on a bunch of stuff, and the removal of your freedom to pump your own gas in Oregon?
