Re: bad crack or nothing to worry about?

crap, well i float tested the boat today and it still took on some water after sitting there for about 20 minutes. i am not sure where it is entering the boat though, i know it wasn't from where I patched it because the floor is open there and it held beautifully. There were 2 small holes in the rear of the boat where the moron PO drilled screws in to hold a battery...the screws were too long and went through the bottom of the boat. I have sealed those holes with Marine-Tex and I will float test the boat again, although I am not really thinking that the water is coming in there because it didn't look like it from the inside. I am perplexed.

f4igrad,

To find out where the water is comming from, you can put the plug in and fill (not completely) the bildge with water. The water should leak out the same place it is comming in. You can do a similar process at the deck.

Also make sure your repair is the entire length of the crack with room to spare on each end (overlap to non-cracked area).

Just some thoughts.

Peace.

Ed.

make sure your drain plug is tight. the rubber type are adjustable. hold the handle and turn the nut on the end.. or replace with a new old $1.00 at walmart, also adjustable.
